How'd He Do That: All Taped Up

There has been some concern on Facebook about how I pulled off this recent photo.  I can assure you, no children were harmed in the production of this image. :)  But I thought I should head off any worries.

First off, let me say Jason Lee is one amazing photographer.  His blog continues to be a source of constant inspiration.  He comes up with many great ideas, including this one.  I just borrow them.  A lot.

The behind the scenes photo pretty much explains it all.  Painter's tape + 2 hours of Photoshopping.  That's it.  I wish there was a sexier story, trust me.  I changed the color of the tape because everyone knows that blue tape can't hold up a feather, let alone a 30 pound toddler.  The gray makes it look like duct tape, which is a bit more believeable.  Then I created a layer underneath Lucas, and made a shadow to look like his feet were a few inches off the wall.  Serisouly, that's it.  The hardest part was getting Lucas to keep his arms up because they got "tired" after a few seconds.

I hope this doesn't take away some of the mystique and wonder of the photo.  It's kind of like knowing how a magic trick is done.  Sometimes, it's more fun NOT knowing.  Leave a comment below.  I'm curious to hear what you think.
